Pretty in Plum – Jenny

30 × 24 inches | Wrapped canvas
Tempera paint
Artist: Jenny, chimpanzee

Deep purples, rosy pinks and burgundy sweep across this large canvas in broad, overlapping strokes. Some marks run in long horizontal bands, while others curve, drip or cut across the layers beneath them. Small flashes of brighter pink and patches of white add contrast to a composition full of texture and movement.

Jenny is one of those chimpanzees who always seems to have something interesting going on. Whether she’s investigating a new enrichment item or settling in with something she’s claimed as her own, she has a way of making ordinary moments entertaining. This painting has a similar appeal: the longer you look, the more little details you discover.
