Caleb
Resident
Caleb is a male African green monkey (a subspecies of vervet) who was born on August 1, 2010. After spending his first few months of life in a human home in Frankfort, KY, he was placed for care at the PRC in 2011. At under a year old, Caleb was just a baby when he arrived, and boy was he a cutie! Now all grown up, Caleb is tall and athletic with an extremely long tail to help him balance as he leaps and climbs with ease. Caleb lives with Breanna, a sweet and quiet rhesus/long-tailed macaque, who is much like a big sister to him. Caleb loves to sit and rest with Breanna as she grooms his beautiful grey, yellow and olive hair each day at sunset. He enjoys toys, puzzle enrichment and splashing in his pool during the hot summer months. In the wintertime, his pool is converted to a dry forage pool where he can dig through shavings and straw to find yummy treats and surprises. He loves to pack his pouches/cheeks full of nuts and seeds and looks more like a chipmunk than a monkey during these enrichment opportunities! He is always eager to greet his caregivers with a friendly face as they bring him his daily mix of fresh fruits and vegetables, and he’s even sweet enough to let his friend Breanna sit by his side as they enjoy their breakfast together. Caleb loves all types of food, but his favorites are peanuts and strawberries.

A Sunny Winter’s Day at the Sanctuary
We're so thankful for these past few sunny days at the sanctuary! We still have snow on the ground, but so many of the primates spent time out in the sunshine this weekend! Check out the video for some scenes from the sanctuary on a sunny winter's day.

A Mother’s Love
When we think of Mother’s Day, it’s usually a day to spend time with mothers and show them our appreciation and love. But not everyone is that lucky. Human, ape, and monkey alike, some of us aren’t able to be with our mother on this special day. Most primates...
