Bucky
Resident
Bucky is a male long-tailed macaque who was placed for care at the PRC from a pet situation in Kentucky in May 2013 at the age of 13. Bucky came to the sanctuary with his longtime companion Timmy after their former owner was no longer able to provide them with adequate care. Bucky and Timmy lived very happily together for a total of 23 years until Timmy passed away in November 2023. We are very hopeful that Bucky will soon have a new companion to share his time with. Bucky is a shy and gentle boy, but gets very excited and vocal when the caregivers bring food or new enrichment. Bucky prefers to eat and nap inside his indoor enclosure, but is often seen outside on bright, sunny days. He is a very sweet monkey who loves to lip-smack happily at his caregivers and our volunteers and interns. He also is very curious when he hears or sees something new, and likes to watch the local wildlife as they pass by his enclosure. Some of Bucky’s favorite foods are grapes, avocados, bananas, apples, and cherry tomatoes.
