
Bucky
Resident
Bucky is a male long-tailed macaque who was placed for care at the PRC at age 13 from a pet situation in Kentucky in May 2013. Bucky arrived at the PRC with his longtime companion Timmy after their former owner was no longer able to provide them with adequate care. Bucky and Timmy lived very happily together for a total of 23 years until Timmy passed away in November 2023. These days, Bucky spends time with a new friend, long-tailed macaque Luke. Both Bucky and Luke are in their senior life stage, and are enjoying getting to know each other. Bucky is a shy and gentle boy, but shows his excitement with vocalizations and lip-smacks at his caregivers when they bring food or new enrichment. He is curious when he hears or sees something new at the sanctuary, and likes to watch the local wildlife as they pass by his enclosure. Some of Bucky’s favorite foods are grapes, avocados, bananas, apples, and cherry tomatoes.
