Purple Rain – Chester

Chester, spider monkey
Purple Rain, 2026
Tempera paint on stretched canvas
14 × 11 inches

Sweeping strokes of violet, cobalt blue and raspberry pink overlap across this original painting, with scattered splashes and unexpected flecks of gold. The rich colors give it a dreamy, almost mysterious quality, with little surprises waiting among the layers.

And if there’s something to discover, Chester wants to find it.

Even in his late twenties, Chester remains one of Primate Rescue Center’s most inquisitive spider monkeys. He’s constantly keeping an eye on activity around the sanctuary, and no new toy or blanket escapes a thorough inspection, especially a good sniff. Give him an enrichment device filled with treats, and he’ll happily spend hours making sure he hasn’t missed a single one.

Fellow spider monkeys Dehlia and Bisou also contributed to this colorful original.

For Chester, there’s always something worth investigating.
