Purple Haze – Ike

Ike, chimpanzee
Purple Haze, 2026
Tempera paint on stretched canvas
30 × 24 inches

Broad strokes of electric blue, vivid pink and deep violet cross and overlap across this large canvas. The colors mingle in places and stand boldly apart in others, creating a lively composition with plenty of movement and just enough unpredictability to keep things interesting.

Ike has never been one to keep a low profile. Loud, confident and full of personality, he’s quite comfortable making his presence known. Sometimes that means an impressive display, complete with foot stomping and plenty of noise. Other times, it’s a little mischief with his good friend Rodney, who rarely needs much encouragement to join in.

Rodney also contributed to this original painting, bringing together two of Primate Rescue Center’s most spirited personalities.

With these two involved, a little excitement is practically guaranteed.
