Kodachrome – Caleb

Caleb, vervet monkey
Kodachrome, 2026
Tempera paint on canvas board
12 × 9 inches

A joyful explosion of purple, blue, green and yellow fills this original painting. Look a little closer, and among the scattered splashes of color, you’ll discover tiny fingerprints left by the monkeys who created it. It’s a wonderfully playful composition, full of the kind of bright little details that make you want to look twice.

Caleb is a lively vervet monkey with a flair for showing off. Graceful and endlessly curious, he’s always ready to investigate something new. His distinctive dark face is sprinkled with white freckles, and when a favorite snack appears, he wastes no time filling his cheek pouches to capacity.

His close companion Breanna, a rhesus macaque, also contributed to this colorful original.

With Caleb, life is rarely short on color or personality.
